You’ll then explore the Sichuan Cuisine Ingredients Display, where you can witness the traditional Qing Dynasty method of brewing the “soul of Sichuan cuisine,” and experience the craftsmanship behind handmade Zhongba soy sauce — even trying your hand at making soy sauce yourself!
You’ll get to taste a variety of iconic Sichuan dishes, including the spicy and flavorful mapo tofu and kung pao chicken. Indulge in Classic Snacks, with over 20 traditional delicacies available for you to savor as much as you like within the museum’s grounds.
The highlight of the visit is a hands-on cooking session, where you'll make traditional snacks such as Kong Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, dumplings or sweet sesame cakes under the guidance of expert chefs. This is the perfect opportunity to master Sichuan culinary techniques while savoring the dishes you create.
After lunch, travel to the awe-inspiring Dujiangyan Irrigation System, an ancient water management system that has been key to Chengdu’s agricultural success for over 2,000 years. As one of China’s most impressive engineering feats, it channels water from the Min River to irrigate the fertile Chengdu Plain without using a dam. Walk along the scenic paths, cross the Anlan Suspension Bridge, and learn how this innovative system continues to provide water for millions.
